NC State Takes Silver in ACCHL End of Year Tournament

The Wolfpack started the weekend against UNCC in the quarterfinal. With a strong 5-0 start in the first two periods, UNCC began a comeback making it 5-3 heading into the third period. NC State pulled through with a clutch performance in the third period winning the game 8-4. Goals came from Banasiewicz with a hat trick, Gimenez Madill, Sunda, Fredenburg, MacDonald, and Cooke.

A rematch of a semi-final from last year occured with the UNC Tar Heels on Saturday. The Wolfpack were looking for revenge and wasted no time in doing so as Sam Banasiewicz scored 16 seconds into the game. With a demanding start the Wolfpack proceeded to dominate the entire game, holding the Tar Heels to three goals. The final score was 7-3 with goals from Banasiewicz (2), Gimenez Madill with a hat trick, Sunda, and Cooke.

NC State sprinted its way to the championship game however would fall short in the third period to a powerful George Washington team. NC Started the scoring two minutes in with a goal from Garrett Sunda. Congratulations George Washington University on your first ACCHL Title! The final score of the Championship game was 8-7. Goals from Sunda (2), Biberdorf (2), Fredenburg, Gimenez Madill, and Blue.

Throughout the tournament, Luis Gimenez Madill collected 9 points, and Sam Banasiewicz with 11. Both were given honorable mention for Tournament MVP.
